Tish McAllise Sjoberg’s portraits are her own personal investigation into relationships with people she knows or has met, into aspects of herself and into the human condition. Most of these simple portraits are drawn while she is blind folded in the blind contour fashion: the pen stays on the paper for the entire time, creating one continuous line. Once drawn, she then opens her eyes to paint. This style arouse from Tish’s deep desire to paint and right next to it her fear that she would be stalled in perfectionism because she did not know how or what to paint. The process continues to give her pleasure and the opportunity to try new things as a painter.

Tish works mostly on 22” x 28” paper using acrylics and sometimes embellishing her work with collage text. Having completed over 100 paintings in the last 2 years she is happiest when she paints daily.
